MPW is waste with actual or perceived presence of pathological agents.

 

The following must always be treated as MPW:

• Tissues and blood soaked material
• Animal carcasses
• Sharps in a sharps container.

 

Close the box when it is 3/4 full.  Do NOT compress the waste to fit more in the box.  Remember, it contains pathogens.

 

Do NOT dispose of liquids in an MPW box.  This box is meant for dry waste.
